Drakes Farm Riding Centre is located in the middle of the village of Ilton in South Somerset. We are 10miles from Taunton, 15 miles from Yeovil and close by the A358 and A303.
The riding centre was established in 1981 by Mrs PV Matravers with one horse and pony and has grown over the years to takeover much of the old Beef Farm. The Centre now inlcudes over 50 horses and ponies of which over 30 are teaching animals, a team of instructors and a 40x20m indoor school.

Drakes Farm
The riding centre is based on the Matravers 140acre Farm which is still a working beef farm although on a much smaller scale. The land is used for the majority of the riding activities as well as for the production of hay and other food crops. At the farther reaches of the farm is our very small herd of beef cows, the remnants of the large herd once managed from Drakes.
Today the farm side is responsible for the pasture management to provide well maintained and sustainable grazing as well as the production of high quality hay for the horses. Annually we have a surplus of hay, mostly light cropping meadow hay which is A1 qualtiy. We can deliver small quantities within 30miles of Ilminster.
