New Arena Surface -

Combi-Ride Equine Silica & fibre additive

Summer 2011 has been very hectic this year due to the long awaited refurbishment of the indoor school. The work all commenced on 17th July, with the first ridden sessions back in 28th July.

During this period the indoor arena was unavailable our customers have been riding outside in one of the arenas or paddocks. For many or our riders this has been a new challenge and everyone has coped very well. Now that we are back indoors the new surface is proving to be rather exciting for many of the horses & ponies.

Installation of the new surface took a little longer than expected due to a few unforseen problems.

Removal of the old surface did not take long as there was not much left! However a number of minor repairs were needed to the boards and seating area. The new base layer took what seemed an eternity to level which left us ready for the sand. The lorry delivering the sixth and final load of sand broke down in the road as the driver could not engage reverse gear so the lorry was stranded in the road!

At 7:30am on Friday morning after a long week we had the choice of unloading 26tons of sand by hand or seeing the lorry towed away with a likely return after the weekend. With time against us the decision was simple so the driver emptied the sand in the road, under the careful supervision of Chloe Matravers.

By midday all 156tons of sand were in the arena and levelled.

We would like to thank all of our customers for their patience during the works and hope that it has not caused too much
